Marketing In The News: Quiet the noise

MARKETING IN THE NEWS: Quiet the noise

Apple has released the new Airpod Pros Generation 2 and their idea of the ad was to give the consumer/vier insight into their main focus on the Airpods. Which the noise cancellation the entire ad had to do with their newer and improved noise cancellation In the ad you start by seeing many things float in the air like the construction worker drilling and the parade with many people celebrating playing music wearing outfits and dancing as well a traffic jam with people honking. Within the beginning, you are instantly hit with all the chaos and loudness that is going on but the camera starts heading down to the ground and you see the main character wearing the Airpods. As she walks to her destination you see nothing but her roads empty sidewalks deserted.

You hear the music that the character is listening to but she holds down one of the AirPods and the noise cancellation is turned off all of the cars and people start to fall down and back on the ground and the chaos is on the ground. The character later continues walking and proceeds to turn the noise cancellation back on and everything else around her starts to float back up in the air.

What I liked about the ad was that it gives you a dramatic and funny representation of how good the noise cancellation of the Gen 2 is. Another interesting take on the ad is the audio focus on how it goes from music to all the people around It gives you that sense of how the noise cancellation is. The ad gives people who relate to this issue of loudness all over them a solution to their problems that is an example of the people don’t buy what you do people buy why you do it. Apple's main target is a younger audience so having ads with younger people tends to give younger people more of a bias towards the product.

Apple has evolved over the years and learned to adapt how they market their products by not exactly telling the consumer/viewer  “Buy the new AirPods with better sound quality and newer noise cancellation only for $250” Instead they give you a visualization of what the AirPods can do as in this ad they focused mainly on sound and audio Apple has very good advertisements because their ads are very low-key, short, and don’t have too much dialogue.

The advertisement for the Airpods was unique and had a very nice way of representing the feeling of noise cancellation. But what could have been better or added would be that they had someone who is trending and could somewhat relate to headphones and music. An example of this is the person walking could have been an artist of any type of music because my own personal opinion is that if I see someone like Drake wearing headphones or someone who is a trending artist I am more likely to be biased to the product. Most ads with a well-known celebrity tend to do better. But Apple doesn’t necessarily have to compete as much with its headphone advertisements because they have a way bigger popularity compared to other companies.
