Social Listening -Rise Of The UFC

The idea I decided to go with is the UFC, a new upcoming sports entertainment that has been gaining much popularity. The UFC will post its upcoming fights or news about anything that has to do with the UFC on all of its social media. Right now the UFC has over 30 million followers on Instagram. The UFC is so good at using its social platforms to get new viewers also I like how they use their Instagram to show previews of fights or fighters giving interviews it gives you a lot of content and they use Instagram to show the UFC cards/fights but in general they are good at utilizing their social platforms. The UFC has had a major increase in viewers between the ages of 18 and 44 the sport has been increasing its younger audience which is impressive since Gen Zers between the ages of 13 and 25 found that 33 percent t of them do not watch live sporting events.

The UFC's target audience is teens adults and MMA fans but not only do they target the category of audience they target any sports fanatic. The sport is easily one of the top 5 entertaining sports of all time how can you not like a mixed martial arts fight between two skilled fighters? It's the coolest thing that you could see in a sport but other than that the UFC has a very cool way of interacting with viewers on social media by uploading a video of the president of the UFC Dana White replying to Instagram twitter, and YouTube comments. Not only the President of the company will respond to fans on social media but the fighters themselves will reply and interact with fans.

The UFC doesn't have actual direct interaction with fans which Is something that they should work on because many other sports teams/organizations will reply to fans in comment sections if they can get a certain group of people who will work on the online marketing for the UFC that could give them a bit more recognition. But the UFC has gone global and has surpassed the NFL in global popularity the sport is on the rise of being one of the newest sports entertainment. Why because the UFC is good at sticking with trends that target their main audience It's.  Impressive that a sports company that was only made official 30 years ago is competing with other organizations that have doubled in years and have more money. The UFC is entertaining because it's not just one category but multiple it reaches fans from different sports also the fighters in the sport are unique and it's not a front or act from an organization instead the organization benefits from their fighters just being themselves. The business has had moments that haven't been seen in a while like fighters jumping into crowds fighting opponents coaches and fighters doing backflips and drinking beer out of a shoe. This form of entertainment is something that brings numbers in for views instead of being “Professional” fighters who do what the fans want and that's something important in the entertainment business to give the fans what they want a show. Give them a reason to spend money on pay-per-view and merch and to keep coming back and attending these fights.

The UFC is also good at emergency moments such as fighters not making weight or not being able to fight. This occurs a lot which can be upsetting for fans causing views or a big money loss but the UFC will find other fighters that will come in on short notice and will give an absolute money-worth performance. The UFC is good at finding their backups and also asking fans and listening to fans about a fight that they want. Like UFC 294 two fighters on the main card were pulled out because of injuries 10 days before the fight so the UFC listened and saw the comments on all social media. And found 2 backups that many are saying are better than the original fighters now the fight has gained double popularity.

Their sponsors are fairly well as they just recently collaborated with a new energy drink that was made by two social media influencers. The UFC sponsors are pretty good because they are somewhat reliable to the sport such as fans or the fighters themselves. If I was part of the UFC marketing team I would expand more on the UFC interaction with fans. By going on TikTok/Instagram and replying to sports fanatics or by posting polls on upcoming matches seeing which one is the fan favorite in the fight. Also, I would post a front ticket giveaway every once in a while to get fans entertained and a chance to get front-row seats in hopes of giving a company a good look.
